Sport is highly appreciated on Saaremaa and superb conditions have been established for fitness activities: a high-quality pathway network, forest and hiking trails and outdoor gyms. When no large-scale events are held, sports enthusiasts have plenty of things to do and many places do not even charge a fee.
Run, pedal or roll
Jogging, roller-skating and biking enthusiasts can enjoy pathways and bicycle tracks that run along the seashore and forest paths. You can take a deep breath of sea-salty air, enjoy the view and cover kilometres – what could be better than that!
Disc golf
The island’s various disc golf tracks are definitely worth trying. Top disc golfers praise our tracks for offering sports activity for an entire day and putting even the most skilful players to the test.
Water pleasures
Sea and water sports are everywhere on the island – while holidaying, you can learn to surf or rent a SUP board and go on an exciting journey on the waves. Those who seek more extreme experiences can test themselves in wakeboarding. After that, you can enjoy playing beach volleyball on the soft sand or just sit and meditate.
Swimming is an option both in summer and in winter, as winter swimming has become the new national sport for Estonians. The same applies to the islanders – they happily jump into the water, regardless of the weather.
Tennis
The island has 13 tennis courts that are perfect for holding a proper tennis battle in the warm sun.
Golf
The Kuressaare golf course is unique in the world due to its urban location. It is a true treat for golfers and a pleasant experience for those who want to enjoy nature and beauty.
The island offers a lot of sporting activities for everyone. Just find one that you like and get started. Your body will thank you.
