Under the Kuressaare Sun

Truly, I’ve never felt such a strong sense of peace and love for a place as I do now. Stepping out of the door, the sun caresses me especially warmly and softly, and a light sea breeze reminds me that I’m home.

Walking around a sunny city, it’s difficult to put your camera away, there is so much beauty at every step. A mythical journey through the small streets of Kuressaare will leave no one cold. Low houses by the streets, wonderful old doors and windows, and gates that have seen a lot of days bordering lovely gardens. Just perfect in all its imperfections.

The things you don’t tend to notice when you live among it. So imagine a completely ordinary weekday evening you’re walking along through the empty old town, an elderly lady peeks through the curtains of an Estonian era house, children’s laughter and joyous squeals carry from the playground around the corner. You walk completely unbothered, you have the time to enjoy every little detail that Kuressaare has to over, if only you want it. The rays of sun always lead you to the right corner and then you can grasp how much has gone unnoticed before now, and how much there still is to discover. You just have to find a moment to feel it all.

My favourite and everenchanting streets in Kuressaare: Suur-Sadama, Väike-Sadama, Kitsas, Vana- Roomassaare and all the small streets that lie in between them.

I take a deep breath, and close my eyes, this is my home, this is my Tuscany!
