Business trip

Saaremaa strikes the perfect balance between work and leisure – unique nature, rich culture and modern business facilities create an inspiring setting for conferences, seminars and business meetings.

Islands often evoke thoughts of peace and quiet, nature and friendly locals – an ideal trio for a perfect vacation.

These same qualities also form the foundation for hosting memorable seminars, conferences or team events. The tranquil atmosphere, friendly locals and a variety of leisure activities make Saaremaa an excellent destination for business trips.

Arriving on the island

While holidaymakers can afford to take their time, for business travellers, the saying ‘time is money’ often rings true. Maximising your working hours means reaching your destination quickly and getting straight to business. The trip to Saaremaa might seem time-consuming, but rest assured, the experiences awaiting you on Saaremaa will more than compensate for the journey.

Getting to Saaremaa is simple – just start your journey, take a short break on the ferry to stretch your legs or catch up on emails, and within an hour, you will be in Kuressaare. You do not always have to come to the island’s capital – excellent venues for seminars and business meetings can be found soon after getting off the ferry.

If you are in a hurry, you can always come by plane. Regular flights between Tallinn and Kuressaare operate twelve times a week and Kuressaare Airport is also well-equipped to accommodate charter flights. The conditions for this are excellent and the airport can accommodate quite large aircraft.

Seminars with sea views, meetings with the scent of juniper

Saaremaa and Muhu offer inspiring opportunities for seminars, conferences and meetings. Most hotels in Kuressaare have a number of well-equipped seminar rooms that can accommodate both small meetings and large events. All of them are equipped with modern technology and all the essentials needed for a professional event. Additionally, a helpful team will support you every step of the way and the cherry on top is the stunning sea or castle views from the different halls. However, if you are looking for a completely different environment, consider hosting your meeting at a hotel or cultural centre outside of Kuressaare.

If you are planning a larger event, Kuressaare Theatre, Kuressaare Cultural Centre and Thule Koda are all ready to welcome you.

Note! The Estonian Tourism Conference Loo lugu (The Story of a Story), held in Kuressaare in autumn 2023, was so well-organised that the event marketing agency Jolos received the Golden Egg (Kuldmuna) for it in the external communication event category at the beginning of the following year.

How often do you leave the office for a bog hike or a sunset SUP adventure? Learn a new skill together: paint Muhu slippers, make soap or master the art of fish cleaning with Tihemetsa Tiina. Discover who has the makings of a Master Chef with guidance from the chefs at Kena Köök or make a meaningful impact on the community by volunteering your time and energy with a local island volunteer organisation.

Holiday in nature

After a busy day, you need a comfortable place to stay and recharge for the next day. In Kuressaare, there are over a thousand hotel beds with silky-soft sheets, where you will forget about your hard day’s work in an instant. If you value privacy and prefer not to stay in a large hotel, there are dozens of charming holiday homes and experience accommodation establishments outside Kuressaare. Some are located near the sea, while others are tucked away in a forest or nestled among the junipers. The views of nature from your window and the sound of the sea will instantly help you escape your daily routine.

Unique accommodations are becoming more popular as travellers seek experiences that go beyond the ordinary. Instead of standard hotels, many are looking for something more distinctive and memorable. For those seeking special lodging, we recommend staying in a charming manor house, a windmill or even a treehouse.

Sustainable solutions

Sustainable solutions and living in harmony with nature are important to the people of Saaremaa. We are committed to ensuring that the island remains as beautiful as it is today for future generations – or even more so. Several local businesses uphold these principles and proudly carry the Green Key quality label. These establishments have adopted sustainable solutions and strive daily to minimise the environmental impact of their operations.
