Golfing

A golf holiday on Saaremaa provides an excellent opportunity to combine a love of sport with the island’s stunning natural beauty. Situated near Kuressaare, Saare Golf is renowned for its high-quality golf course and scenic views.

Kuressaare offers golfers everything they could want for a perfect holiday: a fantastic golf course, spa hotels and great restaurants, all within walking distance, which means less time spent driving and more quality time to enjoy.

Thanks to Saaremaa’s mild maritime climate, the golf season here is pleasantly long, lasting from May to November. The 18-hole course of Saare Golf is located in Kuressaare, just a 15-minute walk from the Old Town. The course was designed by renowned Finnish golf architect Lassi Pekka Tilander and it is regarded as one of the best in Estonia for its exceptional quality.

Everyone is welcome

The course welcomes everyone: from complete beginners and children to casual golfers and seasoned professionals. There are activities for all skill levels, ensuring everyone finds the right fit for their abilities. Saaremaa Golf and Country Club caters to all – whether you are coming alone, with family, friends, for a birthday party or with colleagues! A couple of hours of golf introduction will give you a great overview of why this game fascinates millions of people around the world. You will learn about the centuries-old tradition of golf, try out
different shots under the guidance of an instructor and can even find out who has the best skills in a friendly competition. Warning! You can become addicted to golf in just one session!

Up to 30 golfers can practice at Saare Golf’s driving range at the same time: the practice area has two putting greens and two holes for chipping and bunker shots. A green card is not required – children, beginners and advanced golfers are all welcome. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy their first golfing experience at the driving range!

Fun alternatives to golf

If a full-size golf course feels like too much of a challenge, why not try minigolf instead? On Saaremaa, you can enjoy a round at the Holiday Village Suur Töll. With nine unique courses to choose from, it is a great way to get active while discovering Saaremaa’s history and culture. How does that work? Each minigolf course at Holiday Village Suur Töll is inspired by one of Saaremaa’s key landmarks. For example, you can take a swing and send your ball on a mini tour around the Kuressaare Episcopal Castle. Among the obstacles are the medieval churches, lighthouses and other landmarks of Saaremaa.

In addition to classic and minigolf, disc golf has gained popularity in recent years. Similar in concept and rules to traditional golf, disc golf replaces the golf club and ball with flying discs. On Saaremaa, disc golf courses have been built both in dense forests and on the slopes of artificial hills. Thanks to the island’s mild climate, this activity can be enjoyed for most of the year. In total, there are 8 to 9 disc golf courses across the island.
